To : Connect a WE2111, Settings
page,
The Calibration page provides the ability
to calibrate an indicator remotely. There are 3 methods of calibration:
-
Normal Calibration with
testloads
-
Calibration file download
-
Direct mV/V calibration
It is also possible to store
a calibration on the PC and to restore it to
an instrument at a later time.
There are x
steps to normal remote calibration:
-
Preparation
-
Zero Calibration
-
Span Calibration
-
Linearisation
-
Saving Calibration
Preparation
There are several steps required to prepare
the indicator for calibration:
-
Connect to the indicator: See How
To : Connect a WE2111 for a description of this.
-
Read the settings: Before performing any calibration,
it is necessary to read all of the settings from the indicator and make
sure that the instrument is configured correctly. To read the settings,
select the "
Read Settings" option
from the toolbar. The address, serial number and software version
is displayed on the status bar at the bottom of the window.
-
Check/Update the Settings: Goto the "Settings"
page which should now be available. Check the settings and make any
changes. Pay particular attention to the "build" and "option" groups.
See Settings page.
-
Send the settings to the indicator:
Click on the "
Write Settings"
button on the toolbar to send the updated settings to the instrument.
Note : When the changes have not been sent to the indicator, the indicator
details are shown with a red background on the status bar at the bottom
of the window.
ZERO
Calibration
After preparing the indicator, goto the
"Calibration" page. Make sure that all weight is removed from the
scale base. Press the "Zero" button to initiate a full zero calibration
of the indicator. While the zero calibration is in progress the display
will show "------".
SPAN
Calibration
After the zero calibration is completed,
the span calibration can be done:
-
Enter the calibration weight
-
Press the Span button to initiate a full span
calibration of the indicator. While the span calibration is in progress
the display will show "------".
LINEARISATION
In order to remove any non-linearities
in the scale base hardware it is possible to enter up to 5 linearity correction
points. To add a point:
-
Place test weights on the scale as close as
possible to the area of maximum error.
-
Select a linearistion point by clicking on
the points 1: to 5:.
-
Enter the correct calibration weight of the
test mass.
-
Press the Set button to make the correction.
-
The amount of the correction and the position
of the point as a percentage of fullscale is displayed in the list of points.
To remove a point click on the item in the
list to select it and click on the Clear button.
SAVING
Calibration
To save the calibration select "
Write Settings" from the toolbar.
Backup
and Restore Calibration
The calibration of a WE2111 can be copied
to the PC and stored in a file. This file can be sent to the same
or different WE2111 at a later time. Multiple WE2111s can be sent
the same calibration data. To backup calibration information on the
PC:
-
Connect to the indicator: See How
To : Connect a WE2111 for a description of this.
-
Read the settings: Before performing any calibration,
it is necessary to read all of the settings from the indicator. To
read the settings, select the "
Read Settings" option from the toolbar.
-
Ensure that the WE2111 setup is current and
select "
Write Settings" from the
toolbar.
-
Click "Backup calibration" and select a filename
and path when prompted.
To restore calibration information to a WE2111:
-
Connect to the indicator: See How
To : Connect a WE2111 for a description of this.
-
Read the settings: Before performing any calibration,
it is necessary to read all of the settings from the indicator. To
read the settings, select the "
Read Settings" option from the toolbar.
-
Goto the "Calibration" page and find the "Backup
and Restore Calibration" controls.
-
Click "Restore calibration" and select a filename
when prompted.
-
Select "
Read Settings" from the toolbar to ensure that the Viewer has correct information.
Note: Using "Restore calibration" will overwrite
the current calibration.
Direct
mV/V Calibration
There are 3 steps to performing a direct
mV/V calibration:
-
Connect to the indicator: See How
To : Connect a WE2111 for a description of this.
-
Read the settings: Before performing any calibration,
it is necessary to read all of the settings from the indicator and make
sure that the instrument is configured correctly. To read the settings,
select the "
Read Settings" option
from the toolbar.
-
Check/Update the Settings.
-
Goto the "Calibration" page and find the "Direct
mV/V Calibration" controls.
-
Enter the mV/V value for zero.
-
Enter the mV/V value for the fullscale span.
-
Press the Calibrate "button".
Note: Using this option will overwrite the
current calibration.
