Networking,
The viewer can use the following communication
types :
RS232
Connection
To establish a RS232 connection, a serial
communication cable is required. This cable can be ordered from Ranger
Instruments (part number : 0220). It has the following pin connections:

This cable should be directly connected
between the RS232 port on the WE2111 to a COMx port on the PC.
Click on the "
Connect" button on the toolbar to establish the connection. A window
appears which allows the RS232 link to be configured. The following
information must be given:
-
COM port: This specifies the port on the PC
which the cable is plugged into. E.g. COM1.
-
Baud: This should be set to the same value
as the WE2111 (WE2111 Default : 9600). See also How
To : Configure WE2111 Networking to check and set WE2111 network settings.
-
Parity: This should be set to the same value
as the WE2111 (WE2111 Default : None). See also How
To : Configure WE2111 Networking to check and set WE2111 network settings.
-
Data Bits: This should be set to the same
value as the WE2111 (WE2111 Default :8). See also How
To : Configure WE2111 Networking to check and set WE2111 network settings.
-
Stop Bits: This should be set to the same
value as the WE2111 (WE2111 Default : 1). See also How
To : Configure WE2111 Networking to check and set WE2111 network settings.
-
Unit Address: This can be set to "Any" if
the WE2111 network address is not known. See also How
To : Configure WE2111 Networking to check and set WE2111 network settings.
When this information is correct, click OK
to connect. If the connection is established, the weight appears
on the display page of the viewer. If a connection cannot be established,
an error message appears. If an error occurs, check that the cables
are plugged in properly and the communication setup is correct and retry.
RS422/RS485
Connection
To establish a RS422/RS485 connection,
the following equipment is required:
-
RS232 to RS485 Converter: This is available
from ranger instruments (part number : 0080).
-
RS485X crossover cable: Pin connections are:

-
If more than one WE2111 is to be connected
on the RS485 bus then a RS485 cable is required for each extra instrument.
Pin connections are:

Connecting the RS485 Bus
-
The RS232 to RS485 converter should be plugged
into a COM port on the PC. The 12V power for this converter needs
to be connected.
-
The RS485X crossover cable should be connected
between the converter and a WE2111 (either serial port).
-
If more than one WE2111 is being connected:
-
Each additional WE2111 should be connected
using a RS485 cable between either serial port and the unused serial port
on the previous WE2111.
-
Ensure that each WE2111 has a unique address
and is configured to use RS485. See also How
To : Configure WE2111 Networking to check and set WE2111 network settings.
Click on the "
Connect" button on the toolbar to establish the connection. A window
appears which allows the link to be configured. The following information
must be given:
-
COM port: This specifies the port on the PC
which the converter is plugged into. E.g. COM1.
-
Baud: This should be set to the same value
as the WE2111s (WE2111 Default : 9600). See also How
To : Configure WE2111 Networking to check and set WE2111 network settings.
-
Parity: This should be set to the same value
as the WE2111s (WE2111 Default : None). See also How
To : Configure WE2111 Networking to check and set WE2111 network settings.
-
Data Bits: This should be set to the same
value as the WE2111s (WE2111 Default :8). See also How
To : Configure WE2111 Networking to check and set WE2111 network settings.
-
Stop Bits: This should be set to the same
value as the WE2111s (WE2111 Default : 1). See also How
To : Configure WE2111 Networking to check and set WE2111 network settings.
-
Unit Address: This can be set to "Any" if
only a single WE2111 is connected. Otherwise, the actual address
must be specified. See also How To : Configure
WE2111 Networking to check and set WE2111 network settings.
When this information is correct, click OK
to connect. If the connection is established, the weight appears
on the display page of the viewer. If a connection cannot be established,
an error message appears. If an error occurs, check that the cables
are plugged in properly and the communication setup is correct and retry.
To view a different WE2111 on the network,
click connect the "
Connect"
button again and specify the address.
